Ms. Donya Stubbs
Donya was born in Orillia and attended Timothy Christian School in Barrie, was part of a founding family of Orillia Christian School and then attended Toronto District Christian High. She then moved to Guelph to complete her B.Sc. in Food Science and has worked in the food and market research industries for over 25 years. Now as Vice President of Research and Insight, and a consultant with a Certified Analytics & Insights Professional designation, she helps the food, beverage and personal care industries test and approve their products. During her career Donya has served on multiple market research and sensory science boards in both Canada and the US, championing best practices, strategic efficiencies and effective communication. In her professional leadership roles, Donya has sought to mentor emerging professionals, promote practical communication and demonstrate servant leadership. Donya enjoys visiting her parents in Covenant Tower.
Mr. Case Geleynse
Case is a former member of the Board having served for six years, including membership on various committees and one year as Chair of the Board. Since its inception he has been a member of the Development Committee overseeing the building of the new Faith Manor and of the future Bethany Place and is also currently a non-board member of the Governance Committee. As a member of Crosspoint CRC he is the chair of the Finance Committee. Case brings extensive experience and knowledge of management to the role of board member of Holland Christian Homes. He has been married for 44 years to Rosemarie with 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Mr. John Visser
John previously served on the HCH board from 2012 – 2018 in the capacity of Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Governance Committee, Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and Chair of the CEO Search Committee. Over the past year, he has continued to serve as Treasurer.
Mr. Greg Riedstra
Greg has been a member of CrossPoint CRC Brampton since childhood. He has served in various committees, multiple terms as Deacon Chair, and Chair of Council. He is an active volunteer and Chair of the Board of Encore Thrift Store which supports John Knox Christian School, Brampton. Greg is a self-employed property manager and owner of a number of residential apartment buildings. He has been involved in property management and investment for over 30 years and has also operated and participated in a variety of small businesses ranging from agriculture to health care television.
Mr. Charles Sjaarda
Charles attended TDCH and receiving an Honours Diploma from The Toronto School of Experiential Education, he studied business for two years at the University of Toronto. He and his wife Elizabeth have been married for 33 years and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren and live in Kleinburg. Currently Charles is self employed as a construction consultant and project manager after having operated a construction and renovation firm for 25 years. He has recently completed a 6 year chairmanship term at Rexdale Alliance Church and has also served on the TD Christian High School and Timothy Christian School boards. Charles is willing to serve Holland Christian Homes largely because he has seen firsthand, through many family members, the many blessings and benefits that the facilities and care are to the tenants.
Mr. Keith Ambtman
Keith has been a member of the Board over the past 30 years serving in several capacities including President of the Board. Keith was Chairman of the Development committee responsible for the construction of Providence Tower, King Tower, Peace Tower and Grace Manor. Keith is currently chairman of the Development committee responsible for the construction of New Faith Manor and the rebuilding of the existing Faith Manor into a new memory care facility, to be called “Bethany Place”.
Mr. Ralph DeWolf
Ralph graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the HTS in The Hague, The Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1970. He first worked for a division of Redpath Industries in Toronto for 14 years as an Industrial Engineer, with promotions to Engineering Manager, Plant Manager and Controller while also being involved in computerizing some manufacturing and costing systems. In 1985 Ralph took a position as Corporate Controller with Depco International Inc. and associated companies and was later promoted to Chief Financial Officer of this group of companies. At Depco he was in charge of all accounting, budgeting, costing, benefit administration and was involved in Continuous Improvement initiatives. He was a member of the Finance and Maintenance Committee at his church for many years. He has been a volunteer at Holland Christian Homes for 18 years.
Ms. Jessica Miedema
Jessica grew up in a northwest community of Toronto where her family were members of Second Christian Reformed Church of Toronto (as it was then known). She attended Timothy Christian School in Rexdale and Toronto District Christian High School. Following high school, she completed an Honours BA at McMaster University and then a law degree (LLB / JD) at Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2005, and since 2006 has practiced as a solicitor with a small firm located just north of Toronto. Her areas of practice include corporate compliance & restructuring, commercial real estate, mergers & acquisitions, estate planning and a smattering of charities law. Her clients include individuals, trusts/estates, not-for-profits, closely held business corporations and multinational corporations. Since completing law school, Jessica served 9+ years on the board of directors for The Lighthouse (chairing the board for a term of 3 years), acted as head counsellor for her church’s after-school girls club for 3 years, and completed an assortment of pro bono projects for various charities. Jessica is a member of Covenant Reformed Church of Toronto where she currently chairs its refugee sponsorship committee.
Mr. Walter Jansen
Walter worked for several Architects and Consulting Engineers and became involved in the computerized structural design of large buildings. He also worked for about ten years for one of the major Building Contractors in our City as Project Manager. He next worked for about 15 years for the City of Toronto, in charge of many major construction projects, such as the new Police Headquarters on College Street and the new City Archives Building. After retirement Walter volunteered for years as construction consultant in our Christian Community by advising School Boards and Building Committees. He was involved in the building of John Knox Christian School in Clarkson, Kings Christian Collegiate in Oakville, TDCH in Woodbridge and ClearView CRC in Oakville. Walter is one of the few surviving members of the Building Committee that many years ago built Trinity Towers here at HCH.
Mr. James Schenk
James was born in Georgetown and attended Georgetown District Christian School. James received his undergraduate degree in Economics at Wilfred Laurier University and has 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, holding various senior management roles including Chief Risk Officer at De Lage Landen Financial Services, a subsidiary of Rabobank. James has his Chartered Director designation and is currently active on the Governance Committee of the Georgetown Hospital Foundation. James and his wife Janet live in Carlisle and have three grown children. James has served two terms as elder at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Waterdown and was the past Chairperson at Providence Christian School in Dundas. James enjoys the complex work and challenges of Christian based organizations and is committed to supporting Holland Christian Homes with his time and energy.
Mr. Jerry Vanderburgh
Jerry is a Project Management Professional with a 40+ year track record of successful construction projects. He is the Founder, creative developer and builder of Putting Edge with miniature golf courses in Canada and the U.S. He has previously served as a HCH board member, Council Chairman of Cross Point Christian Reformed Church, Board Chairman of John Knox Christian School and as a board member of Toronto District High School. He and his wife Diane live in Campbellville and have five married children and eleven grandchildren.
