Message from John Kalverda
Dear Tenants, Residents, Staff and Volunteers
It is somewhat difficult to leave the Executive Director ‘s position that I’ve held so long (over 30 1/2 years). To be employed since March 4, 1985 at Holland Christian Homes has been quite a blessing for me.
When I first started, there were only two apartment buildings – Trinity and Hope Towers. Now HCH has six apartment buildings and the two long term care facilities. There were only 4 employees on the payroll then and now there are over 450 employees. HCH has certainly grown. There is so much to be grateful for.
We can appreciate the joint efforts of our Board of Directors, the Federal Government, the Provincial Government, the Region of Peel and the City of Brampton. Many thanks must also go out to the many staff and volunteers. This complex has certainly been a blessing to all those involved. The Lord has certainly blessed this whole complex and made it what it is today. I only see myself as a participant.
I will keep myself busy with my house project in Fergus, where we moved to two years ago. We actually bought a church that I am gradually renovating. I will be playing the games of horseshoes and curling. I continue to play guitar in church once a month in Guelph. I will probably do some volunteering as well. Cathy, my lovely wife of forty-two years, and I will be doing some travelling by car, plane or motorcycles (Cathy has a motor bike too!)
I will end this by saying Thank you for all of the wonderful comments I ‘ve received from our tenants and residents. It truly makes me feel appreciated. Thanks also for the many positive Good-byes I’ve received from Staff I will likely return from time to time, just to say hello. As the words of the well-known hymn say, “God be with you till we meet again, by His counsels guide, uphold you”
May God continue to bless Holland Christian Homes
